Occupying a two floors at 1065 6th Ave, America’s largest architecture firm HOK designed and oversaw the construction of their premier office space using a new solution for the industry- integrated project delivery. As specialist contractors were invited to become active consulting participants in the design process, EGG Electric worked with HOK and WSP Flack + Kurtz on the implementation of the sleek new office. The EGG team provided our industry know-how to deliver a vetted and error free electrical design for the construction documents. Working with Structuretone as construction manager, Building Information Modeling was also utilized, to deliver a design that had been tested in 3d.
EGG Electric also served as the installing contractor for HOK’s offices, furnishing all workstation power, lighting and Lutron systems for their open offices and conference rooms. The office scope included carefully detailed lobbies, pantry kitchens, and model making workshops. By building electric systems through a collaborative architect-contractor design, the EGG team proved our invaluable experience was a powerful tool to anticipate and solve issues before they arise. Existing conditions frequently cause avoidable delays in office fitouts; comparatively HOK’s office install was high efficiency, and delivered on schedule.
The project was a great achievement, and rewarding for the EGG team to work closely with HOK and Structuretone. The EGG team has had the pleasure of working with HOK to realize many of their designs since –it brings great satisfaction to EGG knowing much of HOK’s best new work was created in a space EGG had a hand in creating.
