Mt.Sinai Science Center – Primary Electric

As part of a mixed-use development for Mt. Sinai hospital encompassing a new research facility and a residential tower, the base of 214 5th Avenue contains a new medium voltage infrastructure that powers the joint complex. EGG Electric was delighted to work with EJ Electric to install this infrastructure, comprising four 13.2 kV Medium Voltage Services, feeder risers and splicing chambers, bus duct and parallel tie boards. The EGG Electric Team was responsible for the installation of the switchgear lineup, as well as logistics for lifting the equipment and its staging sequence inside the electric vault. We actively coordinated the path of concrete encased risers and space requirements with the design team, verifying the electricals complied with both contract requirements and the expectations of the client.

Medium voltage services, their splicing and controls have long been an EGG Electric specialty where our best work shines. Our success is from our belief “every job gets built in the office” – Every step of the install sequence was carefully planned with our client Lend Lease, and we employed advanced tools such as 3d modeling to confirm each step of our planning and verify buildability before a boot hits the site. Once EGG electricians were on site, our professionalism, experience and willingness to take on any challenge were essential to the client, and resulted in an on time delivery for all 4 services. EGG welcomed the demands of the project, and are proud to have been successful in providing the power that operates one of NYC’s most respected medical institutions.
